Quotes:
Head Coach Alen Marcina
(On the loss…)
““I’m disappointed in the result. I think all great teams must experience adversity and it’s how you respond to adversity which makes a true champion. I know the guys in this moment are hurting. We’ve already reflected, but we will reflect objectively on the game.
We weren’t at our best tonight, we understand that, but we’ll definitely be better for it.
(On preparing for Oakland next week…)
“Right now, we recover. Once we get back to San Antonio, we reflect objectively. Individually, we needed to be better. Collectively, we needed to be better, and we need to perform and execute our principles, which wasn’t present over the course of 90 minutes tonight.”
Defender Shannon Gomez
(On the loss…)
“Collectively, we’re just really disappointed in the result. I don’t think this was San Antonio FC’s way and it wasn’t the right performance. There’s a lot of reflection to take away from this game. Games are hard and we can’t take any of them lightly. Every game is like a final and we need to continue moving forward with that mentality.”
(On bouncing back next week…)
“It’s taking care of the details and playing our way and not deviating from it. All of us collectively just look at ourselves and try to be better. No pointing of the fingers but just collectively just be better, communicate with each other, help each other out. Every game is like a final and everyone wants to beat SAFC, so it’s just always going out and giving 110% regardless of conditions or whatever it might be. There’s always going to be bumps and obstacles we may face, but ultimately we have to focus on SAFC’s way and grinding out a result.”
Defender Kendall Burks
(On the loss…)
“Obviously we didn’t get the three points. Tough loss, we feel like we should’ve come in here and taken care of business, and we didn’t do that, so we have to learn from it and move on and definitely be better for it because tonight obviously wasn’t good enough.”
