Manley Scored First Goal of the Season on Wednesday at San Diego Loyal SC
SAN ANTONIO (June 20, 2023) – San Antonio FC defenders Carter Manley and Connor Maloney have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, after the team picked up a 2-2 draw at San Diego Loyal on Wednesday.
Manley scored his first goal of the season in the draw, heading in a cross in the 67th minute to give SAFC a 2-1 lead. Defensively, Manley added in three clearances, two interceptions and a tackle in just his second start of the season. The defender had missed the first 13 matches of the season with a lower body injury.
Maloney’ impact came without scoring, as the wingback completed 70 percent of his passes, including two chances created. Defensively, the Penn State product made three tackles, three clearances and four interceptions while winning eight of 10 duels.
The pair of honorees extends the streak of San Antonio FC players on the weekly list to four straight.
SAFC is back on the road Saturday, traveling to take on second-place Sacramento Republic FC. Kickoff from northern California is set for 10:00 p.m. CT, and can be streamed on ESPN+.
