
San Antonio FC forward Santiago Patino was named the USL Championship Player of the Week after he scored a hat-trick on his SAFC debut last Saturday vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Patino’s trio of goals helped lead the Alamo City club to a 3-0 victory in this weekend’s home opener.
In addition, SAFC midfielder PC was also named to the Team of the Week after he recorded one assist and three key passes in attack and won 10 of 15 duels while recording four interceptions defensively in the win. SAFC defender Sam Gleadle made the Team of the Week bench after the fellow debutant recorded five tackles, four interceptions, one clearance and one chance created while helping keep a shutout.
Patino’s hat-trick was the second in club history and first since October of 2019. With his performance, he became the first player to score a hat-trick in his SAFC debut, and the third player to score at least two goals in his first game for the club. Patino originally joined the club prior to the 2021 preseason after spending the previous season with Orlando City SC of MLS.
