San Antonio FC defender Mitchell Taintor was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced today. Taintor and the rest of the SAFC squad recorded two shutout victories last week against OKC Energy FC and FC Tulsa, outscoring their opponents 5-0 in those matches.
Taintor played 90 minutes in both matches, recording five clearances, 14 recoveries and completing 89 of his 124 passes over the two games. The defender also scored his first SAFC goal in the 3-0 win vs. OKC last Wednesday to go along with his defensive performance.
The 25-year-old is now the lone player to have played every minute for SAFC in the regular season so far, compiling 810 minutes played in nine matches in 2020.
