
San Antonio FC (3-5-2) will host Tulsa Roughnecks FC (4-3-3) at Toyota Field on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. The game marks the eighth matchup overall between the two sides in USL Championship play as SAFC looks to improve on their five-match unbeaten streak at home in all competitions.
SAFC heads into the match after earning a 2-0 win against Laredo Heat SC at Toyota Field on Tuesday night in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will mark the third in the span of eight days for the Alamo City club, which also recorded a 0-0 draw at home against Orange County SC last Saturday.
Tulsa will look to earn their first win at Toyota Field after falling 0-2 to Austin Bold FC on Tuesday, which eliminated the club from the Open Cup in their first match of the tournament. The Roughnecks are currently in fifth place in the Western Conference and have recorded two draws and a win in their last three outings.
SAFC is 5-1-1 all-time against the Roughnecks in USL Championship play and 3-0-1 when playing within the confines of Toyota Field. SAFC also beat the Roughnecks 2-1 in the club’s first playoff match in franchise history on Oct. 21, 2017, while the Roughnecks beat SAFC on penalties in the third round of the Open Cup in the 2017 edition of the tournament.
The Alamo City club could potentially face familiar foes in defender Cyprian Hedrick and forward AJ Ajeakwa. Hedrick spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons with SAFC, tallying one goal in 36 appearances for the club, while Ajeakwa scored three goals for the club in 15 appearances during the 2017 season.
The night will feature a $5 rum and coke drink special during the match, as well as a postgame concert by local band The Klocks in Fan Fiesta following the final whistle.
