San Antonio FC (2-3-1) travel to face Real Monarchs SLC (2-2-2) at Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. SAFC is looking to win its third straight match in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
San Antonio is coming off their second consecutive win, beating LA Galaxy II 2-0 at Toyota Field last Saturday. The win marked the first clean sheet for the club in 2019, and also saw forwards Ever Guzman and Bradford Jamieson IV score their second goals in as many games.
Real Monarchs will look to rebound after a 5-1 loss to New Mexico United last weekend. So far, the club is unbeaten (2-0-1) at home while Jack Blake and Maikel Chang are the team’s current top scorers with three goals apiece. The Monarchs have scored 10 goals and conceded eight through their first six games, keeping two clean sheets in the process. SAFC has recorded a 3-1-1 record all-time against the Monarchs, including two important road wins over the last two seasons. The Alamo City club earned two vital 2-1 wins on the road from 2017-18, including last September when goals from Guzman and Lance Laing earned San Antonio three points. San Antonio FC has won three straight against the Monarchs and will look to make it four this Saturday.
San Antonio’s conversion rate continues to trend upward following their two back-to-back wins. Entering their match on April 6 against the Las Vegas Lights, the club’s conversion rate was hovering right at 8.0%. Following their match on the road this weekend, San Antonio FC will return home to face the Tacoma Defiance on April 26 at 7:30 p.m. The match marks Noche de Celebracion night at Toyota Field as SAFC honors city pride during the celebrations around San Antonio.
