SAFC opened the scoring in the 18th minute off a counter attack that started with a long ball by Darnell King. Forward Ever Guzman then played midfielder Sonny Guadarrama in on a through-ball. Guadarrama returned it to Guzman inside the box for a tap-in that marked the Mexican’s first goal of the 2018 season.

Midfielder Rafa Castillo capitalized from the spot for the 3-0 lead, scoring his first goal of the season and 10th overall for the club since its 2016 inaugural season. Castillo is now tied with Billy Forbes as the club’s all-time leader in goals, and is the only player to score in each of San Antonio’s three seasons.
