San Antonio FC (7-0-2) will host Phoenix Rising FC (3-3-0) at Toyota Field on Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be the first time the two clubs face each other this season and the fourth time overall.
The match marks the first of six SAFC games that will air live on Fox Sports Southwest. Dan Weiss and former United States Men’s National Team midfielder Christopher Sullivan will be on the call for tomorrow night’s matchup.
San Antonio FC look to extend their undefeated start to the season against Phoenix. The club remains at the top of the Western Conference after recording a 0-0 draw in their last USL match against Seattle Sounders FC 2, marking just their second draw of the season.
Phoenix Rising heads into the match after earning a 2-1 win against OKC Energy FC at home thanks to a stoppage-time goal from former England International Shaun Wright-Phillips. Phoenix has now scored eight goals so far this season, and sits in 11th place in the standings with nine points.
San Antonio FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo will look to earn his fourth clean sheet of the season. Restrepo has made five appearances and four starts for the club so far, conceding just two goals in that span. SAFC is currently tied for most clean sheets in the USL, and their four goals allowed are tied for fewest goals conceded on the season.
The match will be the fourth encounter between the two clubs and the first since the club rebranded from Arizona United to Phoenix Rising FC. SAFC previously fell 0-1 at Phoenix in their first matchup last season, before recording a 3-2 win and a 1-1 draw at Toyota Field.
