San Antonio FC (7-0-1) will host Seattle Sounders FC 2 (4-4-0) at Toyota Field on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be the second time the two clubs meet this season and the fourth time overall in USL play since SAFC entered the league in 2016.
Coverage of the match will be available at www.sanantoniofc.com and the USL Match Center.
San Antonio FC will aim to extend their undefeated start to the season yet again as they host the Sounders 2. SAFC previously earned a 1-0 win against Sacramento Republic FC last week thanks to a second-half penalty from Rafa Castillo. The club has now scored 19 goals while conceding just four this season.
“Everyone on our team could be a starter,” midfielder Billy Forbes said. “Last time we played Seattle we got a win, but we won’t take this game lightly because they could come into our home and win. We’re going to stick to our game plan and hopefully get a good result.”
The Sounders head into the match after earning a 2-0 win at home against Portland Timbers 2. The club has been quietly climbing up the standings, and now ranks fifth and is tied on points with fourth place Swope Park Rangers. Seattle has scored 13 goals this season while conceding 15.
SAFC midfielder Billy Forbes will lead the Alamo City club’s attack and has tallied six goals and three assists in eight appearances, while recently being named the USL Player of the Month. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Diego Restrepo, who was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 7, will look to record his third clean sheet of the season, which would tie for the club and league-lead.
San Antonio FC has won every encounter between the two clubs, most recently recording a 3-2 win in Seattle during the team’s three-match road trip through the Pacific Northwest. SAFC previously earned a 3-0 win in Seattle in the Silver and Black’s inaugural match, and a 1-0 victory at Toyota Field in August, 2016.
