November 23, 2016
Welcome to the SAFC Mailbag. Each week starting on Monday, fans can submit their questions to San Antonio FC via the club’s social media channels. Then, on Wednesday of that week, the club will answer select questions from fans on www.sanantoniofc.com.
Be sure to continue submitting questions and yours could be answered in an upcoming edition of the SAFC Mailbag.
See below for this week’s SAFC Mailbag answers:
@ErinReat via Twitter: Any chance of updated stadium renderings being released soon?
www.sanantoniofc.com: Spurs Sports & Entertainment continues to work behind the scenes, and we will have additional public details on our pursuit of a Major League Soccer franchise to share with San Antonio FC fans and the rest of the soccer community soon.
Royce the Voice (@6_tweetunder) via Twitter: There was one game where the Bud Light Bunker nets were down. Any chance of that becoming a permanent thing in the future?
www.sanantoniofc.com: We are always looking on ways to improve our game day experience for fans at Toyota Field. As of now, the plan for the 2017 season is to have the safety nets behind the South goal up during warmups, and then down during the match. We will continue to explore options for this area of the stadium as we enhance our game day experience next season.
Dok laplaca (@doktheyankee) via Twitter: When does the USL schedule come out? I need to plan my vacations around road trips.
www.sanantoniofc.com: USL clubs have all submitted preferred dates to the league for the 2017 schedule. While the league also needs to await the release of the MLS schedule, the USL will be working diligently in the upcoming months to release a schedule sometime soon after the turn of the new year.
Alex Morones via Facebook: How many players have made the squad from open tryouts?
www.sanantoniofc.com: Last year, San Antonio FC signed one player that was identified via the open tryouts, however SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell and the rest of the technical staff identified plenty of talent during the tryout events. Midfielder Diego Garcia from Lehman High School was identified during the open tryouts in the Spring, before signing with the club in July following the conclusion of his school year.
