
Mitchell Taintor and Jorge Hernandez recognized in weekly awards
SAN ANTONIO (April 2, 2024) – San Antonio FC defender Mitchell Taintor and midfielder Jorge Hernandez have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week following the team’s 2-1 win over Monterey Bay F.C Saturday.
Taintor assisted the late game-winning goal to Kevon Lambert and won 100% of his duels, registering five recoveries, three clearances and two tackles while completing 42 of 53 passes.
Hernandez continued to be a key provider for SAFC, creating six chances and completing nine crosses, also adding two shots on target and 10 recoveries. The midfielder leads the league with 41 crosses and 13 chances created this season.
Taintor earns his first weekly award this season while Hernandez makes his second Team of the Week appearance to give SAFC six total nods through the first four weeks of the year.
The duo will be back in action Saturday as the team travels to take on Las Vegas Lights FC. Kickoff from Cashman Field is set for 9:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
