San Antonio FC midfielder Michael Reed has been named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced today. Reed recorded an assist after setting up defender Stephen McCarthy’s winning goal in the team’s stoppage-time win at Real Monarchs on Saturday.
Reed’s assist marks his second this season and third overall for the club, adding to his one goal so far in 2017, which he scored in the Silver and Black’s home opener against LA Galaxy II on April 1. In addition to his assist, Reed provided the cross from a set piece that resulted in the Monarchs’ own goal in the 88th minute to level the score. The New Mexico native also recorded two shots, one shot on target, and 77 percent passing accuracy during the match.
The honor marks the first Team of the Week inclusion for Reed this season, and his second overall for SAFC since receiving the honors after the team’s 2-1 win at Tulsa Roughnecks FC in Week 15 of the club’s 2016 inaugural season, during which Reed scored a goal, recording three shots and two shots on target along the way.
