Taintor Scored and Contributed to Shutout in Road Win at Miami
SAN ANTONIO (May 17, 2022) – San Antonio FC defender Mitchell Taintor has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced today.
Taintor scored and helped keep a clean sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 road win over Miami FC. Taintor’s goal was his third of the season, marking a career best for the centerback.
Defensively, Taintor made a tackle to go with three clearances and four interceptions as SAFC’s defense limited Miami to just seven shots in the shutout.
Taintor lands on the Team of the Week for the fourth time this season, leading all defenders in the league. Through 10 weeks of league play, SAFC has had a player on the weekly list 11 times.
Taintor and SAFC host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, May 21 in a clash of the top two clubs in the USL Championship Western Conference. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT from Toyota Field, and tickets are available at SanAntonioFC.com or the San Antonio FC app. The match will be broadcast locally on Bally Sports Southwest Extra, as well as nationally on ESPN+.
