Farr Posted Four-Straight Shutouts in the Month
SAN ANTONIO (May 12, 2022) – San Antonio FC goalkeeper Jordan Farr has been named the USL Championship Player of the Month for April, the league announced today. Farr posted four-straight shutouts in the month, with 18 saves and just two goals allowed in the stretch.
“This award, being player of the month, as a goalkeeper especially, it comes only at the expense of what the team has done,” said Farr. “I’ve been lucky to be in a position to make saves and to get shutouts but at the end of the day this is a team award, and we were the team of the month this month of April. Couldn’t credit the boys in front of me enough, and then the staff and everyone else behind the scenes as well. I just feel fortunate to be the guy getting the recognition.”
Farr made his season debut on April 2, after Christian Bonilla started the team’s first three matches of the season. Despite the late start, Farr currently sits second in the Western Conference with 24 saves on the season and has made the USL Championship Team of the Week twice.
The honors is just the second time in club history that an SAFC player has been named Player of the Month. Billy Forbes was the first to earn the honor, after scoring six goals and tallying three assists in April of 2017.
Farr and SAFC head to Miami next, for Saturday’s tilt against Miami FC. Kickoff from Florida is set for 7:00 p.m. CT, and will be streamed on ESPN+.
