San Antonio FC have acquired 25-year-old forward Taylor Morgan from Tulsa Roughnecks FC, the club announced today. Morgan will be available for selection for tomorrow’s match against OC Blues FC. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are excited to have Taylor join us,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “We are a little lighter in the forward position due to a couple of injuries in recent weeks, so we feel he can contribute to this team straight away.”
Morgan, who joined Tulsa prior to the start of the 2016 season, has appeared in 12 of the 13 Roughnecks league matches this year, scoring one goal in 535 total minutes.
Originally selected by Toronto FC (MLS) in the fourth round (58th overall) of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft, the English native went on to make one appearance with Toronto before joining Ostersunds FK in the Swedish second division. Morgan scored three goals in 19 appearances over three seasons with the Swedish outfit and also spent time on loan in Scotland with both Falkirk and Airdrieonians from 2014-16.
The 6-5 forward is a product of the famed Southampton Academy where he spent four years before joining the Queens Park Rangers Academy. Morgan moved to the United States on a college scholarship, spending one year with Central Connecticut State University before playing his final three seasons at George Mason University. While at George Mason, Morgan scored 23 goals in 50 appearances.
San Antonio FC will face Orange County Blues FC at Toyota Field on Thursday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the match can be purchased at www.sanantoniofc.com or by calling 210-444-5MLS.
