SAN ANTONIO (March 23, 2016) – San Antonio FC has signed defender Bobby Moseley on loan from English Premier League side Stoke City FC, the club announced today. Moseley’s signing is pending international clearance. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Moseley, a 20-year-old Irish international, comes to SAFC after spending the majority of 2015 as part of Stoke City’s U-21 side. Recently, the defender has been training with the Stoke City first team under Manager Mark Hughes. Moseley moved to Stoke City in the summer of 2015 from English club Birmingham City where he was a member of the club’s academy.
“Bobby is a talented, young left-sided player from Stoke City,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He has a good pedigree and a good background in the English game, and he is looking forward to a new challenge in a new country. He fits our system well and we are excited to have him in the squad.”
Moseley has made 15 total international appearances for Ireland at the U-17 and U-19 levels over the course of his career. In August of 2015, he was called up to the U-21 squad for the first time in his career. Prior to the start of the 2015-16 English Premier League season, Moseley made his first start for the Stoke City senior squad in a preseason friendly against European giants FC Porto.
“I’m really excited to be here,” said Moseley. “This is a great club from what I’ve seen so far. I’ve been here for a couple of days and I’ve really enjoyed it. The lads are great, coach is excellent and the way the lads look in training has really impressed me, so I can’t wait to get going.”
San Antonio FC will debut in front of home supporters at Toyota Field on Saturday, April 9 against Swope Park Rangers, the USL affiliate of Sporting Kansas City.
Fans interested in being a part of the inaugural season can place a deposit for 2016 season tickets online at www.sanantoniofc.com or by calling 210-444-5MLS. Single-game tickets for individual matches can also be purchased on the club’s website.
