San Antonio FC (5-0-1) will face Portland Timbers FC 2 (1-5-0) at Providence Park on Friday, April 28 at 9:30 p.m. central time. The match will be the last of the Alamo City club’s three games in the span of seven days and the second time the two teams meet in franchise history.
Coverage of the match will be available at www.sanantoniofc.com and the USL Match Center.
San Antonio FC will aim to conclude their road trip with nine points and remain undefeated in 2017. SAFC previously earned a 3-2 win at Seattle on Tuesday to remain at the top of the table on Tuesday after earning a 2-1 win over Vancouver just three days prior. The club is currently on a three-match winning streak, and could record its biggest winning streak in club history with a win in Portland.
The Timbers will return home to Providence Park after earning a 2-0 win at Sacramento on Saturday. The win was the club’s first of the season and the first time the team scored multiple goals in a match in 2017. Portland has scored five goals and conceded eight so far this campaign, while Villyan Bijev and Augustine Williams currently lead the club in goals scored with two each.
San Antonio FC continues to lead the USL in goal differential (+10) and conversion rate (35.9 percent). Midfielder Billy Forbes now leads the club with five goals scored, already tying last season’s highest goal count by an individual player. Forbes’ three assists also rank highest on the team, and the Turks and Caicos native has scored in all but one match this season.
The match will mark the second time the two clubs face each other and the second time SAFC travels to Portland. Last season’s matchup resulted in a 1-1 draw after a late equalizer helped the club start a six-match unbeaten streak.
