Dutch Keeper Has Appeared in Over 200 Matches Across MLS, Eredivisie and Europa League
SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 14, 2023) – San Antonio FC has acquired goalkeeper Nick Marsman on loan from Major League Soccer, pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.
“As a staff, we are excited to welcome Nick to the team and thankful to MLS for accommodating the loan,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “He is a top professional and proven goalkeeper who brings high-level experience and leadership. The addition of Nick to our already strong goalkeeping unit illustrates our ambition to repeat as champions.”
Marsman spent parts of the last three seasons with Miami, posting six clean sheets in 29 appearances. Prior to joining Miami midway through the 2021 season, the Dutchman spent two years with Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Dutch first division.
Since making his debut in 2011, the keeper appeared in 136 Eredivisie matches. Marsman saved 73 percent of shots faced in over 12,000 minutes in the league, recording 38 clean sheets and 423 saves.
In six UEFA Europa League matches, Marsman made 24 saves and a clean sheet.
Marsman is available for selection this weekend, and will wear number 21. San Antonio FC is at home on Saturday, hosting the Tampa Bay Rowdies in a return to USL Championship play. Tickets are available at SanAntonioFC.com and on the SAFC app.
