Forward Led SAFC in Goals Last Season with 12
SAN ANTONIO (April 25, 2023) – San Antonio FC has acquired forward Samuel Adeniran on loan from St. Louis CITY FC of MLS, the club announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Adeniran appeared in 23 matches with SAFC last season, leading the team in goals scored.
“We are thrilled to welcome back Sam to the team and appreciate St. Louis for accommodating the loan,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “As we know, Sam is a powerful game-changing striker, a proven goal scorer, and is committed to pressing actions. With Sam’s addition we immediately raise the level of team.”
Adeniran previously joined SAFC on loan from Seattle Sounders last season, scoring 12 goals in 23 matches. The forward’s 2022 campaign marked the second-most goals scored in a single season by an SAFC player, and included two playoff scores. Adeniran’s header in the 64th minute of the USL Championship Final proved to be the winner, securing San Antonio’s first title.
This season, Adeniran has played 87 minutes for St. Louis in four MLS appearances off the bench.
SAFC is in action twice this week, traveling for a Wednesday matchup with Nashville SC of MLS in the US Open Cup Third Round.
