Hernandez Scored 12 Goals with LA Galaxy II in 2021
SAN ANTONIO (April 18, 2023) – San Antonio FC has acquired midfielder Jorge Hernandez via transfer from KV Mechelen of the Belgian Pro League, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. In addition, Hernandez has signed a new multi-year contract with SAFC.
“We are thrilled to add Jorge to the team,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “He is a tremendous addition who proved to be among the elite playmakers in the USL Championship, leading in chances created in the 2021 season. Jorge can break down opponents off the dribble, connect a game-defining pass, and execute the final action on goal. He is an ultra-competitive two-way player which is essential in our aggressive game model.”
Hernandez had a breakout 2021 season with Los Dos, scoring 12 goals and contributing six assists to earn a spot on the USL Championship All-League First Team. Hernandez’s led the league in chances created (91), as well as goals directly from free kicks (three) and outside the penalty area (five).
In five years with LA Galaxy II, Hernandez finished with a total of 17 goals and 11 assists.
After the 2021 season, Hernandez joined Choromonets Odesa of the Ukrainian top division. Hernandez would go on to join KV Mechelen.
