Third Overall Pick in 2022 MLS SuperDraft Joins SAFC for 2023 Season
SAN ANTONIO (April 13, 2023) – San Antonio FC has added defender Isaiah Parker on loan from FC Dallas of MLS, pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.
“We are excited to welcome Isaiah to the Team and are thankful to FC Dallas for accommodating the loan,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “He is a committed two-way left-sided player who excels in one versus one situations. Isaiah demonstrates the ability to beat an opponent off the dribble or through vertical combinations and is aggressive in pressing actions. We feel he will be a great culture fit and will adapt quickly to our team identity.”
Parker spent 2022 with Dallas’ MLS Next Pro affiliate, North Texas SC. In 23 matches, all starts, he scored two goals and recorded four assists.
The Gurnee, Illinois native was the third pick of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. In one season with Saint Louis University, Parker scored three goals and assisted seven times in 17 starts. Playing as an attacker in college, Parker was named the A-10 Conference Rookie of the Week three times and was named to the first-team Freshman Best XI by Top Drawer Soccer.
SAFC heads to Kentucky this weekend for a Saturday USL Championship Final rematch with Louisville City FC. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and will be streamed on ESPN+.
