Quotes:
Head Coach Alen Marcina
(On the win…)
“It was a big win, incredibly proud of the players. We were incredibly cohesive in our pressing actions, [I] felt our press was dominant from start to finish, we forced Oakland into some bad situations, won the ball in some good spots, created a number of opportunities off our pressing actions, ultra-competitive. Every single one of the players, ultra-competitive. They wanted to win their one versus one duel, it’s something we asked of them. That’s the first ball, second ball, balls in behind. Ultra-competitive. Proud of them for that. And they were resilient. You know we had a number of opportunities, we didn’t put them away. But they kept going. And continued to create opportunities, and Sam put us up 2-0, and the rest is history.”
Defender Mitchell Taintor
(On the bounce back performance…)
“It was one of our most complete team performances [like the ones] that we were
having the first half of the year, when we were having a bunch of success. So I think it was really good to have everything kind of come together before a big game against San Diego. So I think we just need to keep steady heads and keep going at it this week, we’ve had three great weeks of training and we’ve gotta keep that going.”
