San Antonio FC (6-6-6) will face Swope Park Rangers (7-8-4) at Children’s Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village on Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be the second time the two clubs face each other in their inaugural seasons.
Coverage of the match will be available at www.sanantoniofc.com and the USL Match Center.
SAFC will look to secure three points after having their six-week unbeaten streak ended at the hands of LA Galaxy II last weekend. The loss knocked the club out of a playoff position in the league standings, however the silver and black are within three points of both Swope Park Rangers and Saint Louis FC, and could move into a top-eight spot with a win this weekend.
Swope Park Rangers will head into the match after earning a 3-0 victory against Orange County Blues FC at home last weekend. SPR is currently one point ahead of SAFC on the league table, and has scored 26 goals while conceding 27 so far this season.
The two clubs faced each other for the first time on April 9 earlier this year during San Antonio’s inaugural home opener, where they played to a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal from SPR forward Daniel Salloi, and one by SAFC midfielder Danny Garcia. Garcia’s tally marked San Antonio’s first goal at Toyota Field in club history.
The Alamo City club will aim to continue its run of good form in the attack. The club scored 12 goals over their last seven matches, and has found the back of the net 23 times this season. In addition, the club currently leads the Western Conference for shots (246) and shots on goal (102).
The match will be the first of three consecutive away matches for San Antonio FC. The club will then visit Sacramento Republic FC on August 6 and Arizona United SC on August 13.
