San Antonio FC goalkeeper and captain Josh Ford has had his four-game suspension reduced to three matches following an appeal by SAFC, the club announced today.
Ford was shown a red card following a scuffle in the box during the second half of the San Antonio FC match against OKC Energy FC on July 9. The USL had announced on July 12 that he had been suspended for four matches following his role in the incident.
San Antonio FC appealed the decision in an attempt to reduce Ford’s suspension, which resulted in the ban being reduced by one match. The 28-year-old shot-stopper is now scheduled to miss games against Whitecaps 2 on July 9, Galaxy II on July 23 and Swope Park Rangers on July 30. He will be available to return to the SAFC lineup when the club visits Sacramento Republic FC on August 6.
Ford has appeared in 15 USL matches, allowing 13 goals and making 43 saves. The Liverpool, NY native has conceded just one goal or less in 14 of his 15 starts this season.
San Antonio FC continues its three-game homestand at Toyota Field when they host Vancouver Whitecaps 2 on July 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the match can be purchased at www.sanantoniofc.com or by calling 210-444-5MLS.
