Jorge Hernandez and Mitchell Taintor Both Earn Weekly Honors
SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 8, 2023) – San Antonio FC defender Mitchell Taintor and midfielder Jorge Hernandez have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week.
Hernandez assisted twice in Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win at Phoenix Rising FC, moving into a tie for the league lead with seven assists on the season. Hernandez has now assisted four times in the last two matches, and was recently named a finalist for the July Player of the Month.
Taintor makes his fourth appearance of the season on the Team of the Week, after a strong effort in attack and defense. The Rutgers product created three chances and completed 82.5 percent of his passes, while making three clearances and a tackle.
SAFC continues a road swing this week, heading to Albuquerque to take on New Mexico United. Saturday’s match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
