San Antonio FC defender Darnell King was named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced today. King’s performance in the 2-1 win over LA Galaxy II helped SAFC win their fourth straight match, marking the second-longest winning streak in SAFC history.
King was named the SWBC Man of the Match last Saturday vs. LA Galaxy II after he scored his first USL goal for the club and second in all competitions. The goal marked his first since scoring on May 16 at Midland Sockers FC in the U.S. Open Cup. King also tallied three clearances, two interceptions and one tackle in the match, and currently leads SAFC with five USL assists on the season.
This marks the first time King has been named to the USL Team of the Week in a San Antonio FC uniform. Overall, the right-back has appeared in 19 USL matches this season, starting all of them and tallying the second-most minutes on the club (1,701).
