San Antonio FC will host Saint Louis FC on March 24 at Toyota Field in the club’s 2018 USL home opener, the league announced today. SAFC will begin the 2018 season on the road against Sacramento Republic FC on March 17. The full 2018 USL schedule and kick-off times will be released at a later date.
San Antonio welcomes Saint Louis back to the Western Conference and to Toyota Field for the first time since September of 2016. In two matches with Saint Louis FC during the 2016 USL regular season, SAFC compiled a 1-1-0 record, defeating STLFC on the road August before falling to them at home just two weeks later. San Antonio did not face Saint Louis in 2017 following the latter’s move to the Eastern Conference prior to the season.
SAFC previously hosted the Swope Park Rangers and LA Galaxy II in its 2016 and 2017 USL home openers, earning a 1-1 draw against the Rangers and a 3-0 win against the Galaxy. In those two matches, SAFC recorded two sellouts with an average attendance of 8,274. The 2016 home opener against the Swope Park Rangers remains the club’s highest single-game attendance in team history (8,466).
For the third consecutive year, San Antonio will begin the season on the road with a matchup at Sacramento Republic FC. SAFC previously opened its USL campaigns with wins at Seattle Sounders FC 2 in 2016 and Rio Grande Valley FC Toros in 2017. San Antonio FC has never lost to Sacramento Republic FC, compiling a 1-0-2 record against the 2014 USL Champions all-time.
With the upcoming season quickly approaching, single-game SAFC tickets will go on sale at a later date in February.
