San Antonio FC has signed forward Mike Seth to the current roster, the club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Seth joins after spending the start of the USL season with Phoenix Rising FC.
The 6-1 forward enjoyed an impressive 2016 season with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, helping his club to a third-place finish in the USL Western Conference standings before being eliminated in the conference quarterfinals by Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. Seth led the Switchbacks in goals (eight) and assists (five) while tallying 2,074 minutes over 28 regular season matches. Seth also played 90 minutes in the club’s lone playoff game against the Whitecaps. In two seasons with the Switchbacks, Seth appeared in 54 games, scoring 12 goals and recording eight assists.
“We welcome Mike to the club and we look forward to working with him on a daily basis,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He is a player that the coaching staff feels can come in and help us right away. He is going to add competitiveness, hunger and desire to the group to keep us pushing forward.”
Seth joins San Antonio FC from Phoenix where he played in four games this season. Seth made two starts and recorded four shots in 154 total minutes played while completing 64.5 percent of his passes over the course of his time in Arizona. Seth also appeared in both of Phoenix’s Open Cup matches, scoring a goal against the Fresno Fuego in the second round of the tournament.
“I am happy about the move to San Antonio,” said Seth. “It’s a great group of guys and great group of coaches, so I am just looking forward to getting started and keeping things going with the team.”
The 29-year-old has made 115 USL appearances since 2011 with the Switchbacks, Phoenix Rising and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Seth originally signed with the Riverhounds in 2010 when they competed in USL Division 2 after spending time with the Colorado Rapids (MLS) U-23 side.
Seth attended Penn State Behrend and played collegiate soccer from 2005-09. He was a four-time all-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference player and helped lead the lions to the AMCC championship title in 2007.
SAFC also announced today that the club has added 18-year-old midfielder and Texas native Connor Presley to the roster. Presley most recently played with the Lonestar SC Development Academy in Austin where he helped his team qualify for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs.
In addition, the club announced that it has released forward Aly Alberto Hassan.
With today’s transactions, the SAFC roster currently stands at 25. Seth will wear No. 12 for the club while Presley will wear No. 27.
