San Antonio FC today announced that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with midfielder Juan Nino so he can pursue playing opportunities abroad. The 27-year-old originally joined the club in February of 2017.
“On behalf of the team, we wish Juan all the best in his future opportunities and would like to thank him for his contributions to San Antonio FC,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “Juan was a fantastic professional to work with and he worked hard for the club every day. We are very appreciative of his time here.”
“I am extremely thankful to everyone I met during my time with San Antonio FC,” said Nino. “I have become a better person and professional thanks to the coaches, staff and players. I would like to thank the club for the opportunity and thank my teammates for everything in San Antonio. I will forever be grateful.”
Nino appeared in two matches for San Antonio FC in all competitions, starting and playing 56 minutes in the USL against Sounders FC 2 on April 25. Nino also started and played 90 minutes in the U.S. Open Cup second round against the Houston Dutch Lions (NPSL) on May 17, recording two tackles in the match.
