SAFC Returns to Toyota Field on June 17 vs. Tulsa Roughnecks FC

San Antonio FC and OKC Energy FC played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Taft Stadium. Both teams earned a point each as the Alamo City club extended its unbeaten start in the USL to 13 matches.

“All in all the guys’ efforts to keep the shutout was great,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. “That makes seven clean sheets in a row, which is something that takes a lot of hard work and effort from every player. There’s a lot to build on and we earned another point on the road, and now we look to keep improving week after week.”

San Antonio FC goalkeeper Diego Restrepo recorded his seventh consecutive clean sheet of the season in his eighth appearance for the club. The shutout marks the Silver and Black’s tenth overall this season, and extends its streak without conceding a goal in USL play to 645 minutes.

Restrepo made two crucial saves on the night to earn his second SWBC Man of the Match honors of the season. The Colombia native has conceded just two goals, and has now improved his goals against average to 0.24.

“It’s positive to continue earning points, especially on the road,” Restrepo said. “Obviously, we’re a team that wants to win and we’re a little frustrated, but we just have to work and keep improving.”

The draw marks the second consecutive tie for SAFC and fourth overall, and marks just the third time this season that the team has been held scoreless in league play. The club’s five-game winning streak on the road came to an end, tying the USL road winning streak record for a single season. San Antonio FC has now kept four clean sheets out of six road matches this season.

San Antonio FC will return to action on Saturday, June 17 as it hosts Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Toyota Field. The matchup will be the first between the two teams this season in league play after the Roughnecks knocked SAFC out of the U.S. Open Cup in penalty kicks on May 31.
