Turks and Caicos Native Scored and Assisted in Saturday’s Victory

San Antonio FC midfielder Billy Forbes has been named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced today. Forbes scored one goal and tallied an assist in the club’s 2-1 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday.

Forbes set up forward Aly Hassan in the 22nd minute of the match with a neatly placed through-ball that was dinked off the crossbar and into the net by Hassan. The Turks and Caicos native tallied one of his own just after halftime when he capitalized off a defensive error and lobbed a header past the Whitecaps’ keeper for the 2-1 lead.

Saturday’s match marked Forbes’ fourth goal and third assist of the season. The midfielder now leads SAFC in both categories, and leads the Western Conference in goals scored while his assists are tied for most in the league.

SAFC has now had a representative in the USL Team of the Week following four of the club’s five matches so far this season. This week’s honor marks Forbes’ third of the season and second consecutively after his two goals and assist against Reno 1868 FC earned him a spot in last week’s Team of the Week.
