SAFC Original in the Spotlight

Welcome to SAFC Staff Spotlight where we will quickly highlight some of the people who work behind the scenes of the San Antonio FC technical staff. Without these key individuals, the daily operations of the first team would never been able to function properly.

There may not be a more crucial job behind the scenes than that of the equipment manager. San Antonio FC is benefited greatly by having Rashad Moore as the club’s kitman who handles everything from team equipment, to training setup and travel coordination. Moore has been with SAFC since the club’s inception while also previously working in the same capacity for the San Antonio Scorpions. He is a mainstay within the SAFC setup and a familiar and friendly face for staff and players alike.

What is the best part about your job?

I love game days. From setting up the locker room both home and away, to watching the matches from the bench with the staff and players – that makes all the stressful times worth it in the end.

What is your favorite SAFC memory?

Two come to mind pretty quickly. First, the 2017 playoff win against Tulsa at Toyota Field. It was a great season and a first playoff game for the club. With the loud crowd and the focus from everyone on the staff and team, we knew it would be special. To win it at the end was really cool.

The second memory is a road game in 2017. We were facing the first place Real Monarchs and were down 0-1 with a couple of minutes remaining. We went on to score two goals in the last three minutes of the game to win. The locker room after was a great place to be.

If you could trade places with any other SAFC staff member, who would it be and why?

I would love to try my hand at Tim Holt’s job as Managing Director. For him to succeed he has to be informed and involved in all aspects of the club, which is something that really interests me.

As the USL Championship season remains on hiatus, Moore’s status within the team continues to be integral. Aside from taking the necessary steps for when soccer returns, Moore has been staying on top of player interactions, virtual zoom training sessions and help with all team logistics during the pandemic.
