San Antonio FC earned a point on the road after a late equalizer against the OKC Energy FC last Saturday. SAFC has never lost at Taft Stadium, and the club earned their first road point of the 2019 season in the draw.
These are The Notables:
Man of the Match
- San Antonio FC midfielder Jack Barmby earned SWBC Man of the Match honors against the OKC Energy last weekend. Barmby scored his fourth goal of the season, which ranks second best on the team behind Ever Guzman. Barmby also recorded four key passes, three shots and a 90 percent passing accuracy, while eight of his nine long passes were deemed accurate by OPTA. Barmby currently leads the team with 35 chances created, which is also good enough for seventh in the USL Championship.
- San Antonio FC goalkeeper Matthew Cardone played 90 minutes against OKC Energy last Saturday and made two saves while claiming one cross and making two punches. Cardone faced two penalty kicks on the night and saved one, giving him a club-record five penalty saves all-time with SAFC. All four of Cardone’s other penalty saves came during the 2016 season. The San Antonio native’s 41 total saves in the 2019 regular season currently rank third in the USL Championship.
Record vs. OKC
- With the 1-1 draw against the Energy last weekend, San Antonio FC and OKC Energy FC have now drawn seven of the nine matches between the two sides in the regular season. SAFC is 1-1-7 against the Energy all-time, while four of the draws have finished with a 1-1 scoreline. However, San Antonio FC is still unbeaten at Taft Stadium, compiling a 1-0-3 record since 2016. The two sides also tied 1-1 over 120 minutes in the 2017 USL Championship Western Conference Semifinals before the Energy ultimately advanced on penalty kicks. SAFC has not lost to the Energy since 5/21/16.
- For the first time this season San Antonio FC went an entire 90-minute match without receiving a yellow or red card on Saturday. The team was able to avoid a card against OKC last Saturday, while the Energy picked up one yellow.
