San Antonio FC has officially introduced the SAFC Youth Club Affiliate Network with locally-based San Antonio City SC joining as the club’s first official affiliate member, the club announced today. The program enables its affiliates the unique opportunity to offer elevated development, education, and identification opportunities to all of its members through association with SAFC.
Through a direct and meaningful connection to the SAFC professional and youth academy teams, SAFC Club Affiliates will be able to extend the pathway for its own most advanced players and provide transition to the highest levels. SAFC will also deliver valuable benefits for all of the club’s participants through a host of coaching education and player development programs. Additional elements include special offers and access related to San Antonio FC events and activities.
“We are delighted to launch the SAFC Youth Club Affiliate Network and establish a platform which enables us to connect more directly with a select number of youth clubs for the purposes of positively growing the sport,” SAFC Managing Director Tim Holt said. “It is particularly fitting that SA City SC is our first youth affiliate club considering their successful track record of providing opportunities for local players at all levels, and a set of core values that align with our own. We look forward to working closely with SA City SC during the 2019-2020 youth soccer season and doing so with similarly ambitious youth clubs in the future as part of this initiative.”
In addition to being one of the leading youth clubs in Central Texas, SA City SC has been one of the largest contributors to the development and identification of young players for the SAFC Pro Academy. San Antonio City SC’s mission is to develop youth soccer players at every age and skill level to build character through the sport while establishing long-term relationships with families, individuals, and impactful organizations.
"SA City is honored to be the first youth club affiliate with SAFC,” said SA City President Clarence Franke. “We are thrilled to collaborate with SAFC in offering our players new opportunities and new pathways in San Antonio youth soccer. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship."
“We’re excited to announce our first youth club affiliation in San Antonio,” SAFC Technical Director and Head Coach Darren Powell said. “This program gives access to our club on many different levels, including the technical development of players and coaches. We’re excited that SA City SC is the first club to join us, and we’re looking forward to setting up clinics and development sessions for their players and staff.”
