SAFC Looks to Stay Unbeaten Against Portland at Home

San Antonio FC (0-0-1) will host Portland Timbers 2 (0-0-1) at Toyota Field on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. The club will look to stay unbeaten against the Timbers at home in their second match of 2019 and build on a quality performance from last weekend.

SAFC heads into the match after earning a 3-3 draw against reigning Western Conference champions Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday. The club will look to earn their first win of the season against the Timbers 2 in the teams’ only matchup at Toyota Field this season.

The Alamo City club’s three goals on opening night were a promising sight on the offensive end after the team recorded the feat just six times in 2018. All-time leading scorer Ever Guzman scored his first of the season as did midfielder Billy Forbes, who returned to the club ahead of the 2019 season after previously leading SAFC in goals (10) and assists (nine) in 2017.

Midfielder Lance Laing also recorded his first assist of the season after leading the team with six in the span of two months after joining the club in late August 2018, while Pecka added his first assist of the season as well.

Portland will look to earn their first win at Toyota Field after falling in both matches against SAFC in San Antonio. SAFC midfielder Jack Barmby will look to earn bragging rights against his former club after spending the 2016-18 seasons with the Timbers 2.

“It will be nice to see some of the boys,” Barmby said. “I’m fully focused on getting the three points. It’s about us and our team. It will be nice to see people, but ultimately we really want to get three points.”

The night will mark a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration as the club offers $1 Drink Night courtesy of Bud Light, which will feature $1 green beer while supplies last.

Fans can purchase tickets to Saturday’s match by contacting the SAFC sales office at 210-444-5657, by visiting, or downloading the official SAFC app via the iOS App Store or Google Play.
