These are The Notables:
Back at it Again
- In 2018, midfielder Lance Laing assisted Ever Guzman three different times in just 10 matches, providing a connection that would continue into Saturday’s 2019 home opener. SAFC opened the scoring after Laing’s cross found a familiar foot for Guzman to tap in. The Mexican forward has now scored 16 goals in regular season play to lead the club all-time, while the Jamaican winger has more assists (seven) than any SAFC player since the start of the 2018 season.
- SAFC midfielder Billy Forbes returned to the Alamo City club this offseason after a stellar 2017 campaign with the club. On opening night, Forbes faced the team he played for last season in Phoenix Rising and his performance didn’t disappoint. Forbes scored the second goal for SAFC on the night, which was his 11th all-time for the club.
- For the fourth consecutive season, San Antonio FC drew a sellout crowd at Toyota Field, with Saturday’s attendance at 8,058 fans becoming the fifth-highest in club history. Along with 2016 (8,466), 2017 (8,081) and 2018 (7,946), the sellout also saw a SAFC side stay unbeaten for the fourth consecutive home opener.
- With the 3-3 draw, San Antonio FC improved their all-time record against Phoenix Rising FC to 4-2-2, including an unbeaten record (3-0-2) at Toyota Field. SAFC has outscored Phoenix 11-8 inside Toyota Field since the start of 2016.
